Vintage USA Feedsack Hearts

I have created this miniature hand-stitched textile by cutting tiny hearts from genuine vintage American ‘Feedsack’ fabrics dating from 1920s - 40s and stitching them into place with tiny stitches.The cotton feedsacks were originally used as packaging for sugar, flour and grain; these sacks were often re-used by thrifty housewives for patchwork quilts, clothing, undergarments and tablecloths. Realising their sacks were being used in this way, manufacturers printed the sacks with ever more colourful and intricate designs to tempt their customers!

This miniature textile showcases an array of colourful fabrics and is presented in a simple light wood frame measuring 7"/17.5cm square. It is glazed and corded, all ready to hang.There is also a note on the back of the frame giving the historical background
of the American Feedsack fabrics used in this textile.

Should you decide to buy, this is the actual piece of my work that you will receive. Each of my hand-stitched creations is unique. If you would prefer to pay with a cheque, that is fine, but please email me so that I can take the item down from the website and keep it on one side for you until your cheque arrives.
