I am a textile artist and embroiderer working from a converted barn
next to a cottage in a Lincolnshire village. I live here with my
husband Julian, our three cats and a motley collection of hens. We have
three grown up children.

From my earliest childhood I have been making things! My parents, both artists, gave me ideas and materials to explore, which, with their love and encouragement led me to try many different media over the years. I write poems from time to time, and sometimes include a few words in my embroideries. I have always enjoyed the gentle arts of the home-maker, so knitting, patchwork, and embroidery of all kinds leapt into my hands as soon as I had a home of my own. A move to the country to take up the life of a smallholder in the late 1970s led me into spinning, and naturally dying the wool from my own sheep, knitting it up into little jumpers for my children.
Those smallholding days are behind me now, but I still enjoy growing flowers, fruit and vegetables. Julian and I enjoy gardening and also keep bees. Occasionally we open our cottage garden for a weekend as part of the National Gardens Scheme which supports various cancer charities. In past years we have also been involved with the Lincolnshire ‘Art on the Map’ open studio scheme. There are links from this site to both these organisations where you will find details of any open days we might be offering in the current or coming year. (But please note: we do not take part in these events every year.)
