Welcome to my website February news (1)
Just when we thought we had got away with it, the winter freeze is creeping in from the east making it bitterly cold here and the bird table has to be topped up twice a day as they are so needy! The featured items shown above this time have a Valentine feel and include a new textural piece 'Blue and White' and there are matching cards too, inspired by my old blue and white china, echoes of times gone by and a cosy country kitchen! I will be adding several new items to the Special Offer department in the next few days, one new set of five cards already added, so please do check back soon so you don't miss a bargain. Please remember that you will have to look through several pages on your screen to see all my framed embroideries which are shown in alphabetical order. Meanwhile we'll have to keep the home fires burning brightly a while yet it seems !
If you are unfamiliar with my work, below is a short introduction which you may find helpful :
I am a textile artist and my
work is all made by hand, I do not use a sewing machine. I dye my
own threads and fabrics to achieve subtle colours, which give the embroideries
a ‘vintage’ feel. Although I do repeat my designs from time to time,
each piece is unique as the colours and design details vary. Every work
offered for sale here is the actual framed textile you will receive should you decide to make a purchase. The greeting cards may vary slightly from those shown in the pictures. Payment can be made easily and securely online by credit card or if you prefer to pay with a cheque, please email me so I can confirm postage and keep the item for you until your cheque arrives.
Having
studied both traditional embroidery techniques and contemporary
creative embroidery, I like to blend the two. I love the fine stitchwork employed in the disciplined domestic embroidery of great grandma’s day but find the informality of the modern approach to embroidery exciting. I like to feel in touch with the
past whilst being very much in the present. I often incorporate old
scraps of pretty fabric or old buttons into my work to make something
heart-warming from leftover bits and pieces that would otherwise be
thrown-away - a bit of pretty recycling!
I hope you enjoy your visit to my website.
